Aeon Flux by Peter Chung

aeon-flux.jpg

For those of us old enough to remember the glory days of MTV, when they marketed to an audience with a couple of brain cells, you’ll no doubt have a special spot in your heart for Aeon Flux. She made her debut on Liquid Television and captivated the mind of the every high schooler on the fringe.  Aeon is a agent and sometimes nemesis of Trevor Goodchild, your run of the mill dictator. As you hear in the shows intro she “takes no sides”. This is the point in which I would give you run down of the story, but guess what, there is no story. Aeon Flux is 10 episodes of Anime genius, the show is action packed and each episode contains a plot but don’t read into it too much because it’ll change by the next episode. A great show that helped get Anime into America.

The Maxx by Sam Keith

maxx.jpg

Oh poor Maxx! Is he a superhero? Well…maybe, but he sure doesn’t act like one. The Maxx lives in two worlds, New York City as a bum in a box but also in Pangea as a wild hunter and protector of the Jungle Queen. Does this make any sense? It’s OK, it does eventually, well sort of. The Maxx is sworn protector of the Jungle Queen who also happens to be a free lance social worker. The Maxx is surprisingly lovable and a complete klutz which makes the story soo much fun!

Sam Keith’s story and art are both captavating and ridiculous. Readers will definitely fall for The Maxx.
