Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott

living-dead-girl Elizabeth Scott’s haunting novel Living Dead Girl will crawl under your skin and stay there.  The story begins with Alice, but she hasn’t always been Alice.  At one time she had friends, she had a family, she had a life but now she is Ray’s.  Ray is the man that abducted Alice when she was nine years old.  Now Alice is fifteen and Ray has sent her to the park near the apartment they share to find Anabel.  That is the name given to the next little girl to becomes Ray’s victim.

Told from Alice’s point of view, Living Dead Girl, is the story of abductor and abductee.  The book is not as graphic as it could be and is therefore approachable by ages 13 and up.  Scott does a great job exploring why Alice won’t leave her abductor despite being left alone for 8 hours a day.  The reader gains real understanding of the power struggle between Ray and Alice.  This book is highly recomended for high school age teens wanting to read about the subject of abduction.
