A Tale of God’s Will by Terence Blanchard

Terrence Blanchard A Tale of God's Will

New Orleans will never be the same after 2005. Terrence Blanchard has taken that sentiment and told the story of Katrina in a way only fitting for New Orleans. His trumpet laments times long gone in the world of Jazz and a city that lost everything but it’s soul. Blanchard captures the feeling of absolute loss and devastation in tracks like Funeral Dirge and Levees but there is a undeniable element of hope.

Blanchard’s album was probably the left over emotion from his collaboration with Spike Lee on When The Levees Broke. One of the most powerful moments in the film is when Blanchard returns to his childhood home with his Mother for the first time since Katrina had hit.

Terrence Blanchard has been a mogul in Jazz since the 80’s when he came up with people like Art Blakey and Lionel Hampton. He is a producer of numerous film scores including every Spike Lee joint since Jungle Fever. He has composed several solo albums as well as playing on others.
